Kake is a first-class city in Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area, Alaska, United States. As of the 2020 census, Kake had a population of 543. The name comes from the Tlingit word Ḵéix̱ʼ or Ḵéex̱ʼ, which is derived from ḵée 'dawn, daylight' and x̱ʼé 'mouth', i.e. 'mouth of dawn' or 'opening of daylight'. Kake is the headquarters of the Organized Village of Kake, a federally recognized Tlingit tribe.
